There was a tragic shooting in my home state of Queensland nearly two-years ago when two police officers and a civilian were callously killed on a rural property in the town of Wieambilla. The trio of assailants are alleged to have engaged in a religiously motivated terrorist attack influenced by an extremist Christian belief system called “premillennialism.”

Not long after, Arizona man Donald Day Jr. was arrested in connection with the shootings. Between May 2021 and December 2022, Day is alleged to have sent the assailants messages about the end-times which seem to have partly motivated them to carry out their attack.

Because of the assailants’ association with end-times eschatology and a millennium, this has set off a whole bunch of interest and speculation about pre-millennialism as an extremist ideology.

But is premillennialism a terrorist ideology?

Well, I am historic pre-millennial. I explain why here. So I hope not!

Part of the problem is that trying to explain the subtleties and nuances of Christian schemes of eschatology to people who are religiously illiterate to not easy.
