I had the pleasure of interviewing legal professor John Inazu about his book Learning to Disagree: The Surprising Path to Navigating Differences with Empathy and Respect.
I was afraid that this book was going to be like one big HR seminar on “be nice,” but it wasn’t. It was full of autobiographical anecdotes, told real stories, and showed us that you can treat people who are different with respect and decency.
In addition, I’m a big fan of John’s other book Confident Pluralism which has deeply influenced by own views of politics, secularism, and living-with-differences.
It’s a good interview, only 21 minutes long, fun and informative!
Defending the Rules-Based Order: The US at a Crossroads. America cannot attack Russia and China for rejecting the international rules based order when it rejects the international rules based order in Israel-Gaza. The ICC has issued arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, but the ICC has also issued arrest warrants for Israeli PM Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
Nietzscheans in Negative World. Conservative MAGA Man Ben Crenshaw believes ends justifies the means when it comes to political power. To which I reply that the alternative to progressive authoritarianism is not conservative authoritarianism but championing a liberal democratic order against progressives.
UK Conservatives Want to Bring Back Conscription. I’m a big fan of conscription since joining the Army at 17 was one of the best things I ever did and I wouldn’t be who I am without it!
Trump is Convicted of Paying Hush Money. Was this a political witch hunt or proving that nobody is above the law?
What do I think? Well, listen below!
Thanks for the book recommendation dealing with disagreement. Also appreciated your perspectives on various world events & issues. Concerning Trumps' charges, I suppose you may have more to say about the inappropriate retention of secret documents and the insurrection case which have been conveniently "delayed" so he can dismiss them if he is elected again. Have a great weekend, and we with you, coram deo.
