Oh Canada. A new video on biblical authority. Will Israel turn its sights on Iran? David French thinks religious freedom in America is fine? How to stop the far-right in Europe!

This Week

Well, I’m back from Canada, thanks to Wycliffe College and Crandall University. Oh boy, the trip back was brutal: Moncton-Toronto-Dallas-Sydney-Melbourne. But I had a great time, well, besides the fact that I’m now having major Maple Syrup withdrawal! Otherwise, this week I had the pleasure of teaching on Romans 12-13, presiding at the Lord’s Supper in chapel, and had some very productive meetings. But, there could be some potentially big things on the horizon coming out soon. More anon!

New Video

This video explains the meaning of biblical authority, paying attention to what it is and is not, critiquing approaches that undermine biblical authority, as much as warning of bibliolatry. Note: I have a post coming out next week on this topic (again!) because of some things Pastor Andy Stanley said.

News of the World this Week

1. Esau McCaulley’s New Podcast. The Esau McCaulley Podcast looks to find God in the midst of culture. Each week, Esau will bring together friends, scholars, artists, and writers to unpack the cultural stories that shape our lives and discuss how these stories point us back to God’s presence in the world. The Esau McCaulley Podcast wants to help the church move beyond the walls of the sanctuary to meet real people where they are, in this beautiful, complex world God has made, and find the space where truth and goodness meet.

2. David French on Religious Freedom in America. David French doesn’t think that America has a religious freedom problem. I think he’s mostly right, but not entirely.

3. Hezbollah, Iran, and Israel. Israel has Hamas on the ropes, Hezbollah has been decapitated, and now Israel turns its attention to Iran.

4. Austrian Election Raises Fears of Right-Wing Europe. Another right-wing political party achieves a victory, short of a majority, in Austria, with consequences for elsewhere in Europe. How do you stop the far-right? Ban them? Censor them? No, get control of your borders! That is what Denmark did and it worked!!!

5. Eric Adams and New York Corruption. New York has a big corruption problem and the vampires are running the blood bank.

I think this is my best news commentary audio ever. I don’t imagine everyone will agree with my response to David French on religious freedom or my views on how to stop the far-right in Europe, but hey, at least hear me out, and let me know what you think in the comments.
