This Week
This week we went into Romans 7 in class where I tried to argue that the “I/wretched man” in Rom 7:7-25 is not about the normal Christian life! Otherwise, from Ridley College, check out Darrell Bock’s lecture on Ambassadors of Hope, plus my sermon on Philippians 2:12-26 about advancing the gospel!
New Video
This video explores the teachings of Arius, a fourth-century heretic, who believed that Jesus was less divine than God the Father, and whose controversial views led to the convening of the Council of Nicaea in AD 325.
News of the World this Week
Contra Legacy Media, the Israeli/US hostages never “died,” they were “murdered.” The killing of US and Israeli civilians by Hamas was brutal, cowardly, and needless. No side is innocent in this bloody conflict. Pray that this war ends and ends soon!
The Pope’s Visit to Asia. Pope Francis is visiting Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Singapore. I hope the guy likes humidity!
Lord of the Rings – the Musical. No, I’m not joking, they’ve made LOTR into a musical. And I wasn’t asked to write the lyrics. Talk about being snubbed!
Evangelicals in a Diverse Democracy. A new group of evangelicals have gotten together concerned with how to live peacefully with religious, political, and cultural differences. I fully support the idea! But does it signal an end to evangelism and a preference for inter-faith relations?
Chinese Christians are the Canary in the Coal Mine of Sino-Western Relations. “Unlike the West, where all faiths are expected to bend the knee to the principles of liberalism (which is really just a non-theistic framing of Protestant views on the rights of the individual), all faiths in China must live under the principles of Sinicization, where any religious belief must also be explicitly subordinate to the demands of the government.”
