New Video and News of the Week
Jesus in Hell? Israel vs. Iran. Female Boxing. The Last Supper in Paris. Venezuela fights for Freedom.
Okay, I have recovered from Covid, thanks for your prayers. Otherwise this week, I taught on Romans 3:21-26, preached on Amos 3, and hosted our annual research conference with doctoral students called RESCON which included a guest lecture by Prof. David Moffit of St. Andrews University. A great week!
New Video
In this video, I explain why Jesus did not descend to Hell (the place of everlasting judgment), but to Hades (the waiting place of the dead).
News of the Week
French Olympics and Last Supper Scene. This was a strange tale of offended-reaction, counter-reaction, and over-reaction. Yes, I think it was a provocative anti-Christian act, but I’m not surprised and I find it hard to get angry about this.
Venezuela fights for freedom. The people of Venezuela stand up to Nicholas Maduro even as he sets paramilitaries and military forces upon them.
Israel vs. Iran. We have to remember that Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis are just proxies of Iran. This is Israel vs. Iran and it is about to cut out the middlemen as the conflict escalates. I’m not saying that Tim LaHaye was right, but something very apocalyptic might be going down if this escalates further.
Women’s boxing gets controversial. Female Italian boxer, Angela Carini, retired only 46 seconds into her fight against Imane Khelif of Algeria, who had been barred from a women’s event last year. Yes, this is a travesty for women, but no, it has nothing to do with trans-activists. This is a problem of how to classify intersex athletes and the appropriate categories for them to compete.
