The treatment for children and adolescents who appear to be confused about their identity and even experience gender dysphoria has been complex and contested.

However, it seems a corner has been turned, and the gender-affirmative care model which effectively allows children to choose their own gender and facilitate a transition with social, pharmaceutical, and surgical measures has not been so much called into question as it has been debunked.

Now I’ve already written on how to be compassionate and yet reasoned in the debate about medical treatment. Gender dysphoria is a real thing, some teenagers persist in their symptoms, and transitioning is one way to deal with an underlying pathology. But that’s the thing, it’s a pathology, not a normal part of human experience. Changing your body to fit a perceived gender identity is not like dying your hair. It’s a big call and demands big evidence to justify it. Except that the evidence for an affirmation model was always lacking and has now been exposed.

Which brings us to the groundbreaking and world-changing “Cass Review” put together by leading British Pediatrician Hilary Cass of York University.

Note this: The report is of such a nature that death threats have been made against Prof. Cass and Police have advised her not to use public transport.

This is a big deal and you need to know about it!
