Hi everyone, I am still on my trip through Turkey and Greece and I am trying, as Internet permits, to post pictures from the places I’m visiting. A few days ago we visited the ancient city of Sardis and got to behold the ancient synagogue and gymnasium. Check it out!
Next time I hope to post some pictures of Ephesus and Pergamum. Also, I will have some very good videos coming out in the next few months as I gradually edit what I’ve recorded here.
So synagogues were not white washed and no art. Mmm?!
Can you confirm what is the sculptured art on the altar and other areas in the synagogue please? Pomegranates? The mosaic tiles the tessellation looks similar to the swastika often thought to originate in Indo-European art. Confluence of cultures in Sardis? I have visited Ephesus, Collossae, Hieropolis and the Hagia Sophia and they were all real peak experiences, loved it. More please.
