Hi friends, in my travels I come across several podcasts, YouTube channels, and books that I like to recommend to people.
Mosaic. A podcast by Singapore Bible College with Jean Yuah and Justin Joon Lee and others. Great stuff on theology in an Asian context. The two hosts are great scholars. Listen to the episode where they introduce themselves and their podcast. This podcast will broaden your horizons beyond the usual podcasts of bearded white men wearing baseball hats while indoors.
Genre and The Two Cities. My colleague Dr. Andy Judd is interviewed by the folks at The Two Cities about his dope book on the Bible and genre.
OT and Hermeneutics. Speaking of Andy Judd, check out his YouTube channel which deals with difficult questions on the Bible, especially on the OT and biblical interpretation.
From Evangelical to Syrian Christian. My dear friend Dr. Elke Speliopoulos has a podcast talking about her journey into Syrian Orthodox Christianity and she explains stuff about Syrian Theology. Very interesting. Shows the dangers of learning Syriac!
Junia in Romans 16. Bridget Jack Jeffries is a PhD student at TEDS. Wonderful lady, very tall, makes me feel like a hobbit, and she’s trained in Brazillian jujitsu. But she has a YouTube channel dedicated to her studies on Junia in Romans 16. Her first video is a great intro to how she got into research and it’s very encouraging.
Unsolicited Theology. This is a substack by my former doctoral student Dr. Amber Dillon and my current doctoral student her husband Ryan Dillon. Worth a free or paid subscription.
Aussie Christian Book of the Year. The winner of the annual SparkLit book of the year, an Aussie prize for Australian Christian books, is Dani Treweek for her book The Meaning of Singleness.
Human Value. I’m excited to read the forthcoming book by Nadya Williams on Mothers, Children, and the Body Politic: Ancient Christianity and the Recovery of Human Dignity which is about how people’s worth is more than their economic contribution.
Listening to Dr. Elke speak made me think of the Wests journey from realism to nominalism and the impact that has on faith. Is that something you could cover one time? It seems to me to be an explanation for the loss of faith in the west.
