Hillsong. Multi-Site Churches. Jude and 1 Enoch.
I’m trying to chill out in sultry Singapore while hanging with some great Christian leaders. So here is what to expect this week.
Tuesday: Hillsong: Elegy or Effigy? (Paid Subscribers)
There are so many documentaries, podcasts, and books about Hillsong. Much of it is I suspect intended to keep anti-religious critics’ disgust fresh, but there is A LOT of stuff that needs to be exposed for the terrible things done to people. A morality tale about the dangers of Christianity as empire-building and the perils of religious consumerism. But, I still know some good people at Hillsong, who love the Lord and do good ministry. Do we need a lament for Hillsong (elegy) or a repeated excoriation (Effigy)? Or something else?
