Monday: Why Ordination? (Free Sign-Ups)
Guest post by my Ridley Colleague Rhys Bezzant: “We need leaders who are not just pragmatists, doing what works, but instead can think from first principles to adapt well to new situations and conditions, through applying themselves to theology and church history. We need leaders who are well-trained in reflecting on their own practices and can draw others into that reflection as well: our leaders need to devote themselves to learning the skills of pastoral care, evangelism, preaching, liturgy, and church-planting.”
Tuesday: The Making of the Old Testament Canon (Free Sign-Ups).
A video interview with Andrew Judd about how we got the Old Testament and how to interpret it!
Wednesday: Saving Inerrancy from the Americans (Free Sign-ups).
This will ruffle some feathers: “We need to save Scripture from the American culture wars, their tribalism, borderline bibliolatry, their gatekeepers of power and patronage, weird shibboleths, and myopic fixations.”
Thursday: Things to do at ETS/SBL (Free Sign-Ups)
My annual list of things do at the biblical studies conferences in Texas in November, filled with thinly veiled mockery of US culture, religion, and politics. Things like, Wear a badge saying, “Jordan Peterson is my Karl Marx.”
Friday: Jesus and the Syro-Phoenician Woman (Paid Subscribers)
A close look at an amazing biblical story thanks to the help of M. D. Hooker.
