This Week in Word from the Bird
Power and the Glory. Trump on Abortion. Richard Hays on God and Sex. The Clarity of Scripture. Athanasius and a Severed Arm.
I’m getting into Romans 8 with students this week. And please pray for my shoulder, the last cortisone injection is wearing off and chronic pain is returning. Ugh. But I’m making progress on the second edition of What Christians Ought To Believe. Plus diving deep into grading essays, so many to grade.
Monday: The Power and the Glory
My review of Graeme Greene’s classic novel about a morally complex Catholic priest in 1930s Mexico.
Tuesday: Trump Goes Full Pro-Choice … Or Does He? (Paid Subscribers)
Trump is trying to neutralize abortion as an issue even though it’s the only reason some of his religious base clings to him (or is it?).
Word from the Bird is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
Wednesday: First Reviews of Richard Hays and Chris Hays on the Bible and Sexuality (Free Sign-Ups).
Since I am not American, I do not critique books I have not read! However, some people have actally read it and do have thoughts! First reviews are out even though the book is not released until November.
Thursday: Clarifying the Clarity of Scripture (Paid Subscribers)
I have even more on what the clarity of Scripture does and does not mean.
Friday: New Video and News of the Week (Paid Subscribers)
Video on Athanasius and commentary on news events of the week.
