This Week in Word from the Bird
It’s close to the end of May, lots of good things this week, hope you enjoy them.
Monday: Paul as Imperial Administrator (Free Sign-Ups)
A friend of mine put me onto Teresa Morgan’s book Being ‘in Christ’ in the Letters of Paul, which argues - among other things - that Paul understood himself as an “imperial administrator” on behalf of Christ.
Wednesday: What I'd Say to Harrison Butker (Paid Subscribers)
Harrison Butker is a kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, they apparently won a thing earlier this year. Butker is well-known for his traditional Catholic beliefs. When invited to give the graduation address at a Catholic liberal arts college, he said some controversial things about the roles of women as “homemakers.” A lot of outrage has ensued as a result.

Thursday: What is the Anglican via media? (Free Sign-Ups)
The Anglican via media is often understood as a middle way between Catholicism and Protestantism, but that’s not true. Anglicanism is via media, a middle way, but it’s between different Protestant traditions.
Friday: A Literal Millennium? (Paid Subscribers)
Is this thousand years literal, metaphorical, or a further part of the recapitulation of themes across the Book of Revelation?
Saturday: Who was Athanasius? (Free Sign-Ups)
I used AI to create a really cool video about Athanasius, one of the most important theological figures of church history.
