I want to argue that recognition of the indigenous peoples of a certain place is not “woke” performance, not anti-western theatrics, nor a superficial attempt to paper over the injustices of the past, but an important way of acknowledging the injustices of the past and moving forward in reconciliation.

This is a medieval apocalypse where the Roman empire are the good guys and the Muslims are the bad guys! It was a very important text that influenced the crusades, the Reconquista, and medieval ideas about the perfect Christian king.

Friday: Who Should We Disobey? Part Three: Post-Liberal Progressives (Paid Subscribers)
A further danger to liberal democracy is a post-liberal progressivism. I have in mind something like a state that seeks to regulate as much of the individual’s beliefs, convictions, consciences, and religion as possible. A system where non-state-centric forms of life are corroded by constant surveillance, types of coercion, and deliberate over-regulation.
