This Week in Word from the Bird
Gnosticism as hatred of power. Pro-life in a morally compicated world. Reviews of books on Romans 9-11. Locating the Book of Revelation within Judaism.
Monday: Gnosticism as Political Theology (Free Sign-Ups)
What I find interesting is how political theorists have often appealed to Gnosticism as a political category for the attempt to delegitimize earthly authority. Gnosticism is, then, mis-archy, the hatred of power.
Tuesday: Pro-Life in a Morally Complicated World (Aviary Members)
The world is not black and white, it is fraught with moral ambiguity, where you face competing goods, lesser evils, and sometimes you have to make your way through places where Bible verses cannot find you.

Wednesday: Book Battle: Romans 9-11 (Free Sign-Ups)
Hey, Romans 9-11 is tricky, so I give a review and verdict about Mark Reasoner, Now Shown Mercy and Thomas P. Dixon, Paul and the Wrath, both of which tackle Romans 9-11.
Thursday: Revelation within Judaism (Aviary Members)
If John of Patmos was a Judaean, an adherent to the Jewish way of life that believed it found its climax in Jesus the Messiah, then reading the Book of Revelation within Judaism makes a lot of sense.

The latest episode of Ask N.T. Wright Anything plus a bonus surprise!
I think we have to just keep it simple the way Jesus said and not try to reinvent the wheel on Christian Baptism. There has already been to much confusion as to what Baptism is and does in the Christian church
I said yes for the vote. It’s understandable if there is a time when a priest /pastor may mistakenly misspeak by forgetting the right order of pronunciation of Triune God/Trinity etc. However I’d would not find it acceptable when using other names like redeemer or whatever etc. ( I know they are biblical concepts of salvation etc) but I’d rad go with the Lord Jesus Himself said the great commission and how we are to baptize etc. I think Matthew 28:18-20 is pretty clear on the Trinity Triune name.
