This Week's Cast Blast
More US Presidential Candidates. Is Young Restless & Reformed Still a Thing? Canadian Teacher Lambasts Muslims Students for Skipping Pride Day.
Hi friends, below is 10 minutes of audio on stuff in my head, in the world, or groovy things that needs a mention. This week, three topics.
First, more US presidential candidates enter the race.
Mike Pence enters the race. I call Pence the “Schrödinger candidate” because he’s trying to simultaneously be Trump and not-Trump at the same time.
Chris Christie throws his hat in the ring. Perhaps Christie is starved of attention, or just starved and looking for the buffet. To be honest, it’s hard to tell the difference with him.
Cornel West, African-American theologian and civil rights activist, who I have a soft spot for, is also running for president in the People’s Party. Check out his article with Robert George on To unite the country, we need honesty and courage. A great “what if” but ain’t gonna happen.
Second, is anyone still Young Restless and Reformed?
I think the passing of Tim Keller marks the end of the YRR movement. Am I right on that? Has the YRR fizzled and fragmented? Who are the good, the bad, and the ugly of YRR?
There is the book by Brad Vermurlen on this which I reviewed earlier.
Third, Canadian school teacher lambasts Muslim students for skipping pride event at school.
You have to listen to the audio of this teacher laying into these poor Muslim students. As a result I now want a “It’s not a joke, Mansour” teacup. It shows the post-liberal tendencies of progressives. Be progressive or be punished. I’m not saying I’m a prophet, but I prophesied this back in 2016 in an article I wrote for ABC Religion & Ethics on The Socially Progressive Paradox: LGBTI Rights and Anti-Islamophobia.
All that is discussed below in 10 minutes of audio.
