The Israel-Gaza war is garnering a lot of media attention. Now that is undoubtedly because of the ferocity and savagery of the Hamas attack, the massive casualties reported, the heart-wrenching hostage situation, the bombing of sites in Gaza, the humanitarian concerns, and the moral outrage by people from all quarters.
Yet I have to confess that I find it interesting that there is not nearly the same level of interest in the plight of the Uighur Muslims in Western China or the Armenian Christians in Nagorno-Karabakh, both of whom are facing their own type of genocidal attacks. Also, there is a war still going on in Ukraine, which shows no signs of abating any time soon. Yet all eyes are on Israel and Gaza.
Why is this the case? Why is this conflict, among the many in the world, getting so much attention? Why does the Israel-Gaza conflict hold a particular grip on our attention, especially from the media?
