Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking about AI and tinkering with several AI tools for use by academics and students.
In terms of how one might use AI for biblical and theological studies, I made and entire video about it. It is what I’ve gleamed so far by watching other people use it and playing with a few AI-powered platforms myself. Watch it below:
But deeply disturbing is this video by Israelis historian Yuval Noah Harari that “A.I. could kickstart the next big religion.” You gotta watch it just for the shock factor.
Harari is the author of Homo Deus which argues that technology will turn humans into god-like creatures who have achieved immortality and other supernatural feats through technology.
Hey, I’m more than happy to use AI to help me write emails and even find a cure for cancer, but I’m not prepared to worship AI or to accept its creative insights as a form of god-like revelation.
So yeah, a big danger that AI becomes a new tower to Babel! But by all means, use it as appropriate and ethical.

I use ChatGPT every night to create new bedtime stories with my kids. They supply the characters, setting, and conflict. AI blends it all into a fitting bedtime story.
My son recently shared with me two very intensive studies, on in environmental science and one in legal research, in which they found that AI will fabricate full citations for references that do not exist when the system does not have any relevant background to cite. Scary!
