I had an absolute blast speaking with Jen Wilkin, JT, and Kyle the Koala-Man at the Knowing Faith podcast. They interviewed me about Romans 9 where we covered the historical and literary context, a basic sketch of the chapter, Calvinism vs. Arminianism, supersessionism, and even middle eastern politics!
Excellent summarised commentary on Romans. Thank you for making such a complex letter more digestible. Only one minor suggestion - you seem to use the joke ‘I’m just a humble koala butcher from [enter fictional small town name] quite a bit (heard it on a couple of other podcasts) but it never seems to really land. Maybe it’s time to retire it!?
Jen is a gifted Bible teacher but, unfortunately, complementarian. I do wish she would laugh a bit less and take what Michael says seriously. It's not a joke that soft complementarian ethos trades in "chivalrous misogyny" and that an egalitarian mutuality is closer to the biblical vision. Jen's world is steeped in a view that gives her a voice—to a point, as long as she knows her place (below men). I pray for wisdom and courage for her to move in God's way versus keeping the men in charge happy.

I just listened, hoping Jen would express her opinion, but unfortunately she didn't.

I too was once a very, very conservative complementarian.
