Life in the city of Rome was a daily battle for survival, the poor sanitation, fragile food security, prevalence of diseases, periodic plagues, little to no medicine, violent crime, shoddy housing, the tenuous nature of employment, high rates of women dying in childbirth, high infant mortality, low life expectancy, scorching summers, and bitter winters.
Hi, so do you believe 'once saved, always saved', that is, if someone becomes a Christian at some point in their life, God justifies them bringing forward the final judgement verdict into the present, declaring them 'not guilty', and that that verdict forever stands from that point?
Also It's interesting that you quote NT Wright, who seems to believe that an individual is only 'justified' at the end of their life, and that justification is based on how they have lived their life. At least that is my understanding of NT Wright's position, though I do find him rather confusing on this important question!
Very helpful! I am teaching Romans 8 presently and found your work via Knowing Faith podcast.
Michele, glad to hear that!
Comforting words for perilous times! Thank you!
Lovely post, Mike! Thank you!!
