Thanks for that. I didnt think I often prayed to the Spirit but then it struck me that there are a number of songs that do call upon the Spirit and are sung prayers. I'm thinking of older hymns such as 'Breathe on me breath of God', 'Come Holy Ghost our hearts inspire', and more modern ones such as 'Spirit of God show me Jesus'. They feel entirely appropriate and in line with what the NT teaches.

That is an excellent question to ponder....thanks for your insight Mike. In thinking it through I realized I do sometimes pray to the Spirit, especially in the context of John 16:12-15...... to be guided in truth and what God through Jesus wants to enlighten me in with wisdom and understanding

Yes, I fully agree with the Cappadocian Fathers ,, but what about " worshipping" the Holy Spirit ??? Now that won't happen because the Holy Spirit will only withdraw.. Worship is strictly Christocentric as that is the only approach on the basis of holiness the Child of God has to the Father ..
